Stock control

Bins, adjustments, transfers and minimum levels

The Stock Management page is where the number on the screen is kept honest between stock takes. Four small tools do most of the work: the bin, the adjustment, the transfer and the minimum level.

  1. 1

    Find the line

Search by SKU, name or bin, filter by category, and use Show to see only negative lines, lines on order or lines with no bin. Needs attention first sorts out-of-stock, below-minimum and negative lines to the top; By bin orders the list the way you would walk the shelves.

  2. 2

    Set the bin

Press set bin on the row and type the shelf reference, for example A3-12. The bin then prints on the till’s yard pick slip, on picking lists and delivery notes, and on the count sheet, and Ask PlanIt can answer “where is BB35?”. Bins can also be set in bulk with a spreadsheet under Import stock levels.

  3. 3

    Adjust a wrong figure

Adjust asks for the quantity counted on the shelf and what happened — damaged, miscounted, written off. The change is worked out for you and becomes a ledger movement with the reason and your name. Use a stock take for anything more than a handful of lines.

  4. 4

    Transfer to another branch

Transfer moves a quantity from this branch to another straight away; there is no in-transit step. If the move would take stock reserved for a customer order here, it is flagged before you confirm.

  5. 5

Set the minimum and top-up levels

On the row open Minimum level: Never drop below is the minimum, Top back up to the level a reorder should restore. Lines below minimum show under Needs attention and drive the reorder suggestions, alongside the sales-per-week figure the app works out from real demand.

The header totals show stock at cost, retail value at today’s list prices, how many lines need attention and how much is reserved to customer orders. Every movement — sale, goods in, count, adjustment, transfer — is listed under the row with the document, who did it and why.
