Industries

Built around how your trade actually sells

The counter is not the same in a wholesaler, a plumbing merchant and a builders yard. PlanIt EPOS is configured to yours during setup, rather than sold as one shape for everybody.

Electrical wholesalers

Trade accounts, contract pricing and cable off the drum

Electrical wholesaling lives on account customers, negotiated pricing and getting a spark back out the door quickly. PlanIt EPOS handles the discount structures behind the counter so the right price appears without anyone working it out on paper.

  • Trade accounts
  • Pricing
  • Stock
  • Customer discounts
  • Quotes
  • Deliveries
  • Supplier ordering

Plumbing merchants

Special orders, click & collect and boiler spares that must be right

Plumbing and heating turns on availability. Half the counter conversation is whether you have it, when you can get it, and whether it is the right part. PlanIt EPOS keeps promises visible so nobody has to remember them.

  • Stock
  • Customer accounts
  • Quotations
  • Click & collect
  • Special orders
  • Purchasing

Builders merchants

Account customers, delivery scheduling and bulk pricing that holds

A builders merchant sells on credit, delivers most of it, and prices by volume. PlanIt EPOS is built around that: the account, the load and the price break, rather than a retail basket.

  • Account customers
  • Delivery scheduling
  • Branch stock
  • Quotations
  • Bulk pricing
  • Invoice management

General trade counter

One platform that adapts to almost any trade business

Most trade businesses are not one of the big three. If you sell to trade customers over a counter, from a yard or off a van, PlanIt EPOS configures to your products, your units and your language rather than forcing you into someone else’s.

  • Configurable products
  • Your pricing structure
  • Counter, yard and account sales
  • Stock that matches reality

Not on the list? It almost certainly still fits.

Categories, units of measure, product attributes and pricing structures are all configurable, so PlanIt EPOS adapts to almost any trade business.

  • Decorating centres
  • Timber merchants
  • Ironmongers
  • Hardware stores
  • Agricultural merchants
  • Fixings suppliers
  • Workwear suppliers

Core features

Everything the counter needs, in one place

Six modules that share the same products, the same customers and the same numbers — so a sale updates stock, the account and the margin report at the same moment.

The queue does not care that your broadband is down

PlanIt EPOS is offline-first. Products, prices and customer records are held on the device, so sales carry on being rung through, priced and receipted with no connection at all. When the line comes back, everything synchronises automatically — in order, once each, with no duplicates to unpick.

  • Keeps sellingScan, price and tender exactly as normal.
  • Queues safelyEach sale is stored with its own identifier so it can never post twice.
  • Reconciles itselfInvoice numbers are assigned by the server on sync, so the sequence stays gapless.

AI assistance

Less admin, without giving up control

The tedious parts of merchant admin are pattern-matching problems: reading a price list, matching a product, spotting a line that is about to run out. PlanIt EPOS does that work and then asks you to confirm it.

Import supplier price lists from PDFs

Send it the price list your supplier actually emailed you — a 40-page PDF, not a tidy spreadsheet — and it reads the pages the way a person would.

Extract products automatically

Codes, descriptions, pack quantities and costs come out as rows, matched against what you already stock by barcode, supplier code and description.

Update pricing

Review the matches, accept what is right, correct what is not — then apply. Your margins are recalculated as the costs land.

Build quotations

Turn a list of what the job needs into a priced quote on the customer’s own terms, ready to send.

Predict stock shortages

Recent demand and supplier lead times are combined into a reorder point, so a line is flagged before it runs out rather than after.

Search invoices in plain English

“What did Harding buy in June?” finds the documents, instead of you filtering four columns to get there.

Analyse business performance

Ask why margin moved and get the lines and customers behind it, with the figures to check.

Generate customer insights

Spot accounts trading below their usual level, or buying less of a category than they used to.

Worked example

A 40-page PDF price list, in about two minutes

A supplier emails a price list as a PDF. It is read page by page, products are extracted with their codes, pack quantities and costs, then matched against your catalogue — barcode first, then supplier code, then internal code, then a fuzzy match on description. Every row arrives in a review inbox with a confidence score.

You accept the high-confidence matches in bulk, correct anything that looks wrong, and apply. Only then do costs move and margins recalculate.

Why we built it

Built by people who have stood behind a trade counter

“We built PlanIt after seeing first-hand how outdated many trade businesses’ software had become. Every feature exists because it solves a real operational problem.”

PlanIt EPOS was created by someone who invested in and operates a real trade business, not by a software company looking for a new vertical. The credit-limit check exists because releasing goods to an account that was already over its limit cost real money. The PDF price-list reader exists because retyping a supplier’s price file is a genuinely miserable way to spend a Sunday.

That is the whole test we apply to a new feature: does it solve something that actually happens on a counter? If not, it does not get built.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

What is PlanIt EPOS?

PlanIt EPOS is business management software for independent trade merchants. It combines a trade counter till, customer accounts and credit control, stock control across locations, purchasing, quotations, CRM and reporting in one cloud platform, so a merchant does not need separate systems for selling, stock and invoicing.

What kinds of merchants is it for?

Independent electrical wholesalers, plumbing and heating merchants, builders merchants and general trade counters — including decorating centres, timber merchants, ironmongers, hardware stores, agricultural merchants, and fixings, workwear and tool suppliers. Products, units of measure and pricing structures are configurable, so it adapts to most trade businesses.

What happens if the internet goes down?

The till keeps trading. Sales are recorded on the device and queued, then synchronised automatically when the connection returns. Prices, products and customer records are held locally so the counter can carry on serving rather than reaching for a duplicate book.

Can we keep our existing hardware?

In most cases, yes. PlanIt EPOS runs in a web browser on a Windows PC, a Mac, an iPad or an Android tablet, and works with standard keyboard-wedge barcode scanners, thermal receipt printers and label printers. It sits alongside your existing card terminal.

How is our data backed up?

Data is held in a managed cloud database in the UK region with continuous backup, included in the subscription. There is no server in your back office to maintain, and no nightly backup routine for a member of staff to remember.

How long does it take to go live?

It depends on the state of your catalogue more than anything else. Once products and customers are imported and your pricing structure is configured, counter staff are typically serving confidently within a morning. Onboarding is included in the subscription.

How much does it cost?

PlanIt EPOS is a monthly subscription with no long-term contract, priced on the number of tills and users rather than a percentage of your turnover. Onboarding is included. Request pricing or book a demo and we will quote for your setup.

Can we move our existing products and customers across?

Yes. Products, customers, opening balances and supplier price files can be imported from CSV or Excel, and supplier price lists can be imported from PDF. Imports go through a review step so nothing is created or overwritten without approval.
