Careers

Work on software people actually depend on

A small team building the system a trade counter runs on. When it is wrong, someone cannot sell. That is a good discipline to work under.

Open roles

We are not advertising a role at the moment. We would still like to hear from you if the rest of this page describes how you want to work — small teams change size quickly, and the best hires usually arrive before the job advert does.

Email hello@planitepos.com with what you do and something you have built or fixed that you are proud of. A short, specific message beats a long, general one.

How we work

Close to the counter

Every feature starts from something that went wrong in a real trade business. We would rather ship one thing that removes a genuine daily irritation than five that look good in a comparison table. If you cannot describe the Tuesday morning a feature helps with, it is probably not ready to build.

Honest about limits

We tell merchants what the software does not do yet. That has to be true internally as well: no optimistic estimates that everyone privately knows are wrong, and no quiet shipping of something half-finished on a Friday.

Correctness where it counts

Some of this software touches money and stock. A sale that posts twice, an invoice sequence with a gap in it, a price import applied without review — these are not bugs you fix casually. We take a lot of care over idempotency, ordering and audit trails, and rather less over things that can be changed on Monday.

Small team, wide scope

There is no separate team to hand a problem to. You will talk to merchants, watch people use what you built, and see the consequences. Most people either find that the best part of the job or the worst — it is worth knowing which you are.

What we look for

  • Care about the people using the thing, not only about the thing
  • Willingness to say “I do not know” and then go and find out
  • Comfort with ambiguity — the specification often is the conversation with a merchant
  • Writing clearly, because most decisions here get made in writing
  • Any background at all in trade, retail or wholesale is a genuine advantage

What we can offer

Real ownership of real problems, direct contact with the businesses using what you build, and a product young enough that your decisions still shape it. What we cannot offer is the structure, the specialisation or the security of a large employer — that is a fair trade for some people and not for others.

If that sounds right, get in touch.

Not here about a job?

If you landed here looking for the software, the demo is the fastest way to see whether it fits your counter.
