What it handles

How PlanIt EPOS works for electrical wholesalers

Each of these is a working part of the platform, not a roadmap item.

01

Trade accounts

Open accounts with terms, credit limits and named contacts. The limit is checked as the sale is rung through, with a manager override that is recorded rather than whispered.

02

Pricing

List price, trade bands and customer-specific contract prices resolve automatically in that order. The counter sees the price the customer has been promised, not one that has to be remembered.

03

Stock

Live quantities across the counter, the racking and the yard, with cable tracked in the units you actually sell it in — full drums, and metres cut off them.

04

Customer discounts

Discount by customer, by product group or by individual line. Apply a further discount at the till when you need to, with the margin impact shown before it is committed.

05

Quotes

Build a priced quotation on the customer’s own terms, send it, then convert it to an order without retyping a line when it is accepted.

06

Deliveries

Mark lines for delivery or collection, keep a picking list per van run, and record who signed for what.

07

Supplier ordering

Raise purchase orders against real demand, receive part deliveries as they arrive, and see what is still outstanding on each order.

On a normal day

Three situations this was designed around

Software for trade is judged on the awkward moments, not the demo path.

A contractor collects mid-job

They scan through 20 sockets, a drum of 2.5mm² and a box of connectors. Their contract price applies to every line, their credit is checked, and the invoice lands on their account before they are back in the van.

A manufacturer sends a new price file

The PDF is imported, products are matched by barcode and supplier code, and you review the changes before any cost — or margin — moves.

A cable drum runs low

The reorder point accounts for the last four weeks of demand and your supplier’s lead time, so the line is flagged while there is still cable on the drum.

Questions

Electrical wholesalers: common questions

Can PlanIt EPOS handle customer-specific contract pricing?

Yes. Pricing resolves in a fixed order — customer contract price first, then the trade band the account sits on, then list price. The counter sees the resolved price with no manual lookup, and you can still discount a line at the point of sale if you choose to.

Does it cope with cable sold by the metre off a drum?

Yes. A product can be stocked as a full drum and sold as cut lengths, with the stock ledger reduced by what was actually cut. Both the drum and the cut length can carry their own barcode and price.

What happens if a customer is over their credit limit?

The sale is stopped at the till with the shortfall shown. A user with the right permission can override and continue; the override is recorded against the sale and the user, so it is visible in reporting afterwards.

Can we import price files from wholesalers and manufacturers?

Yes — CSV, Excel and PDF. PDF price lists are read and turned into rows, then matched against your catalogue by barcode, supplier code and description. Nothing changes until you approve the matches.
